Dear Friends,
The last 12 months have been challenging for The Little Red House. Our reimbursement and funding from the Veteran’s Administration was put on “hold” in March 2010. This has impacted many area veterans, who are unable to take advantage of our programs due to their benefits for adult day services being unavailable through the VA. We are turning to you, our neighbors and community partners, for assistance. Once again this year, we are not adding to expenses by hosting a golf event or elaborate spring fundraiser—we are just sending this letter to you appealing for financial assistance.
The Little Red House is a home-away-from home for members of our community who are faced with the challenges of aging, including Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and other infirmities associated with growing older. We are a haven, as many find comfort in the safe surroundings our red house provides.
One hundred percent of your generous donation dollars will directly affect the lives of vulnerable community citizens in this way:
- $1,000 Provides for six hours of daily care for two weeks, including: meals, snacks, professional nursing services, personal grooming, transportation, activities, and movement therapy.
- $500 Provides 30 hours of care, 20 rides on our bus and 22 meals
- $250 Provides 25 hours of care or 24 hours of care and 2 showers
- $100 Provides 10 hours of care
- $50 Provides 5 hours of care or 16 meals or 7 bus rides
In addition, your financial help will provide much needed caregiver respite and support for many in our community who are caring for loved ones. We thank you for your consideration and assistance in helping those who are in need of our services.
Sincerely,
Jody Herrelko
